While articles in Forbes and the Harvard Business Review suggest that meditation can be effective in business, how does an organization obtain the necessary expertise?  More important, what should be the goals of meditation in business?

A recent Business Insider listed The American Psychological Association‘s list of most empirically proven positive benefits of mindfulness meditation:

  • Less rumination.
  • Reduced stress.
  • Improved memory.
  • Better focus
  • Greater emotional control
  • Self-observation
  • Higher relationship satisfaction

The Business Insider article mentions five CEO’s who have used meditation to have a positive effect on their businesses.

Once you or your organization accepts the concept of meditation as a business tool, how do you implement it in your busy schedule?  Could it be an app?  Not likely.  In general, some knowledge of your business and the complexities of obtaining “soft skills” are needed to obtain the desired results.  Yes, it might be time to consult a meditation leader.
